William P. “Bill” Thompson a lifelong resident of the area,  passed away on April 5, 2024 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was born in Greeley, PA on February 29, 1952, the son of late Alex and Evelyn (Hess) Thompson.  He was 72 years old.

Bill was a retired truck driver for the NYSDOT.  He was the past chief and 50 year member of the Lackawaxen Township Vol. Fire Dept.   Bill was the widower of the late Christine R. “Christy” (Weber) Thompson, they were married for 44 years.  She was the love of his life.  After losing Christy he continued to mow his lawns, he purchased his favorite car, a Ford Mustang and  turned all his love and attention to his dog Savannah and until recently never missed a fire call or meeting in Lackawaxen.

Survived by: his niece: Hope Starr and her husband Brian of Lake Huntington. NY, his sisters: Julie, Millie, his brother : John, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews and cousins including Vickie Foy

Bill is predeceased by his wife Christy and his brother: Neil Thompson.

A special thanks to nephew: Charlie, cousin: Vickie Foy, and caretaker Michele for all the help in the last few months.
