Douglas R. Foster, 88, a longtime resident of Narrowsburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at home with his family by his side. Doug was the son of the late Herbert and Iva (Eldridge) Foster, he was born January 16, 1935 in Liberty, NY.

Doug was a retired heavy equipment operator for Sullivan County Dept. of Public Works. He had also worked for the Town of Tusten and the Narrowsburg Feed mill. He was a member of the Narrowsburg United Methodist Church, White Lake Fire Co., and the Kauneonga Lake Fire Dept. He was a racecar driver at Bethel Motor Speedway.

A family statement reads: “Doug was a loving and caring husband, father,  grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and great uncle and loved nothing more than spending time with them. He was an avid bowler. Having morning coffee with his friends was how he enjoyed starting his day. He will be forever cherished in our hearts and missed by all.”

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Dorothy (Knecht) Foster, five children: Douglas Foster and his wife Angela of St. Augustine, FL, Diana Foster and her companion Darren Brodmerkel of Beach Lake, PA, Doreen Wyss and her husband Francis Jr. of Narrowsburg, NY, Arthur Foster of Narrowsburg, NY and DeEtte Saul and her husband Chad of Narrowsburg, NY, sister: Linda Blais and her husband Bob of Bethel, NY, four brothers: Jack Foster and his wife Marjory of Kauneonga Lake, NY, Charles Foster and his wife Lee of White Lake, NY, Kenneth Foster and his companion Norma Rose of Ashville, NC, Donald Foster and his wife Frances of Sorrento, FL, seven grandchildren, a great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doug is predeceased by his sisters: Frances Foster, Evelyn Lapolt, brother: Arthur Foster and his grandson: Francis Wyss III

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4 , 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm

At the Narrowsburg Union, in Delaware Hall,  7 Erie St. Narrowsburg, NY 12764
