Willi Anton Hoersting, 91, a longtime resident of Eldred and formerly of Ridgewood, NY, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Willi was born on August 12, 1934 in Rheine, Germany and immigrated to the United States in the late 1950’s.  He enlisted in the US Army; at which time he became an American Citizen.  He was a proud member of the VFW Post 6427.  He had a long career as a master machinist in the corrugated box industry which enabled him to travel the world.  Willi was the former co-owner of the Windjammer Bar in Ridgewood, NY.

Willi was an unforgettable character and a loyal husband to Renate, with whom he shared an almost 45-year love story.  He and Renate had a wonderful life together and are together again.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Renate M. Ziegeler Hoersting.

Willis is survived by his children: Klaus Ziegeler and his wife Anne of Matamoras, PA; Peter Ziegeler and his wife Theresa of W. Olive, MI; Susan Cozzolino and her husband Philip of Garden City, NY; and grandchildren Nicholas Ziegeler, Hannah Brunette and Matthew Ziegeler.

A private service was held for the family at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.
