Tyler Casiano Laput, 37, of Glen Spey, New York, died Monday, June 22, 2026, at home.

The eldest son of Amador C. and Carol Turner Laput, he was born July 28, 1988, in Houston, Texas. Tyler was a 2006 graduate of Eldred Jr./Sr. High School and a 2010 graduate of St. John’s University. He was a teaching assistant at Mackenzie Elementary School in the Eldred Central School District and was pursuing a master’s degree in education.

Tyler was involved with many ministries at St. Ann’s Church. He formerly served as a Youth Group Leader, Vacation Bible School instructor and musician. A talented athlete, he still holds several high school records in track and field and went on to coach both the Eldred track and field and cross-country teams.

Tyler lived life with a quiet reserve and a generous spirit. He was deeply committed to those he loved, generously sharing his time and taking an active interest in the things that brought them joy. He enjoyed cooking and cherished time spent with family and friends, whether playing board games, computer gaming, or watching movies together. A passionate movie aficionado, Tyler appreciated the art of filmmaking, often discussing directors and cinematography in detail. His favorite movie was “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”.  His nephew, Phineas, and niece, Sylvia, held a special place in his heart. He would gladly set aside whatever he was doing to spend time with them, treasuring every opportunity to share in their lives.

A perfectionist by nature, Tyler took great pride in doing things well and ensuring everything was right and often struggled because perfection is unattainable. Tyler also carried struggles that were known only to those closest to him. He worked hard to confront and overcome these challenges, showing resilience even during difficult times. While those struggles ultimately became more than he could bear, they never diminished the love he had for his family or the kindness he showed to others.

Tyler is survived by his loving parents, Amador and Carol; brother Evan (Daphne) Laput of Eldred, NY; brother Amzie (Alexandra) Laput of Wilmington, NY; sister Bailey Laput (partner Sylvester Delvillar) of Teaneck, NJ; sister Samantha (Elany) Rubet of Jersey City, NJ; grandparents Corrie and Amby Mankoo, and Norma Anderson; nephew and niece Phineas and Sylvia Laput; aunts Nikki (Heath) Macaluso and Dilshad (John) Bowers; uncles Edwin Anderson, Jason (Sally) Mankoo, and Dave Turner; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Dr. Amador J. Laput and Edwin L. Anderson, and his uncle, Richard Laput.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Shohola, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Tyler C. Laput to the St. Ann’s Church, Shohola, PA.
