Stephan L. Rosenbaum, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, friend and longtime resident of Kew Gardens and Eldred, New York, passed away on March 27, 2026, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Queens at the age of 79.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Four, with whom he shared just shy of fifty memorable years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Alexander Four-Rosenbaum, and his cherished granddaughter, Autumn Four-Rosenbaum, who was the light of his life. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Evin Willman, and her wife, Paula, of Jacksonville, Florida, along with Evin’s daughter Rebecca and her children.
Known as ‘Uncle Steve’ to many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends across generations from near and far, he shared his kindness and generosity with all. He always treated people with respect and compassion, practicing the lost art of human connection. He will be missed dearly by all and we are grateful for all of life’s lessons he influenced.
Steve was born on April 11, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Hyman and Bernice Rosenbaum. He attended college at St. Lawrence University and law school at the University of Cincinnati. Steve worked as an attorney for 50 years counseling and guiding clients with care from his office in midtown.
Always one to be dressed for the occasion, he amassed a great collection of suits, neckties and pocket squares often saying one was not properly dressed if they didn’t have a pocket square. He loved to build birdhouses and spend time cooking in the kitchen passing on recipes to all, especially with Autumn as his sous chef. He loved the outdoors, fishing/hunting, shooting sports, and getting on a mower for hours. Steve was passionate about music and always had something playing on his music log(speaker) as he called it.
Steve hardly went a day without reading a newspaper and completing a crossword puzzle. He had a passion for learning and never stopped; reading, researching, and absorbing knowledge until the end. He was very interested in certain art and the humanities and was an avid reader.
We are so thankful for the time we had together and look forward to celebrating all the great moments, influences, wisdom, and guidance he bestowed upon us in his 80 years with us.
Please honor Steve by making a generous donation in his name to one of the following causes he supported and believed in:
