Richard B. (Dick) Crandall, 85 of Narrowsburg, NY died on October 19, 2025, at home.  He was born on March 31, 1940 to Kenneth M. and Emma (Muller) Crandall, Sr. in Monticello, NY.
Dick married Betty Jane Nober in 1960, and together they built a life filled with family and friends, grounded in their love for each other, their family and their faith.
A Narrowsburg High School graduate, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 and was stationed in Germany. After completing his service, he returned to Narrowsburg and worked as a ranger at the Ten Mile River Boy Scout Camp. In 1966, Dick graduated from the New York State Police Academy, beginning a long and successful career in public service.
After retiring from the New York State Police, he sold real estate, which soon led to his involvement in local government. Dick served on the Tusten Planning Board and the Board of Assessment Review. His first elected position was as Tusten Town Justice, where he also served the New York State Office of Court Administration as a Small Claims Hearing Officer for tax appeal cases. He later went on to serve as Tusten Town Supervisor.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker and biker.  He loved to keep busy and always had a project in mind (which often included arranging large stones into whimsical arrangements around his home).
Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his son, Richard and wife, June, of Narrowsburg; his daughters, Christine Crandall of Narrowsburg, and Allison Bendle and husband, Gregory, of Downers Grove, Illinois. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Crandall; Jessica Crandall; Rona (Crandall) Dubose; Nomi Allen; and Khamara Allen; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Nancy Chadwick (Douglas) Crandall.
Dick was predeceased by his brothers, Douglas (Floy) Crandall and Kenneth (Florence) Crandall, and by his son-in-law, Thomas Peter Wiegers.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025 at  2:00 PM at the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, 107 Milanville Rd, Beach Lake, PA.
