Nicholas A. Luca, 85, passed away August 7, 2025 at home with his loving family at his side. He was born January 27, 1940 to the late Harry Nunzio and Josephine (Morgante) Luca in Manhattan, NY. Nicholas was married to Dorothy J. (Engel) Luca for 24 years.
Nicholas retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, holding down the position of Manager at the New York Air Route Control Center Long Island McArthur Airport.  He also held the position as a Director of the Federal Credit Union. He moved to Shohola to be with his loving wife, Dotty, and built a life filled with family, friends and golf. He was affectionately known as the “Mayor” of Shohola. During this time, he became very involved in community and held several offices in community groups. His tenure in community groups extended to President of the Shohola Area Lions Club, President of St. Jacobi Lutheran Church Council, and Treasurer of the Shohola Railroad and Historical Society.
Nicholas leaves behind his wife, Dotty; son, Richard (Janine) of Huntington, NY; daughter, Denise of Huntington, NY; his beloved stepchildren: Richard (Lisa) Handel of Virginia Beach, VA; Robert (Oanh) Handel of Merrick, NY; Scott (Hui) Handel of Annapolis, MD: two grandchildren; Daniella and Christian Luca: four step grandchildren; Abby, Sam, Quinn, and Cienna Handel: sister: Helen (John) Gramesty, Trumbell, Ct. and special caregiver Yvonne Stack, Hemlock Farms, Pa.
He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Luca.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00am at the St. Jacobi Lutheran Church, Shohola, Pa with Reverend Kent Klophaus officiating.
