Lorraine “Rainy” Bodens, 82, of Narrowsburg, NY passed away on Friday, November 14th, 2025.

She was born August 24, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles and Emma Scheibling, moving to Narrowsburg, NY when she was 2 years old. Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Narrowsburg, and a proud graduate of Narrowsburg Central School, class of 1962. She was active in her community volunteering with Lava Fire Department and becoming the first woman constable in Sullivan County. After working many years for Katz Sewing Factory, she attended Lackawanna College as an adult student and was proud to earn her AS in Business Administration. She then worked for Wayne Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring.

Rainy was an avid crafter throughout her life, enjoying learning new hobbies and sharing them with her family, friends and community. Her interests spanned from the wedding cakes she made in her youth, to embroidery, silk Christmas ornaments, knitting, crocheting, beading, scrapbooking and painting seasonal yard décor, signs and birdhouses. Some of her work was even showcased in the local art gallery. She loved sitting on her front porch talking to passersby and showing off her crafts.

She is predeceased by her siblings Charles Scheibling, Loretta Maas, Christine Schluer, and Susan Scheibling, as well as her long term partner, Howard Kuen. She is survived by her brother & caregiver Henry “Buddy” Scheibling; daughter Elizabeth (Robert) Porras and grandson Steven Porras; siblings-in-law Jan Haldeman, Donald Maas, & George Schluer; nieces & caregivers Jessica (Don) Scheibling-Kelly and Caitlin (Ken) Cuttita and many other nieces/nephews and friends.

A memorial service for Rainy will be held on Saturday, November 29th at Harrison-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville, NY. Visiting 12pm-1pm, Memorial Service by Pastor Phyllis Haynes 1pm-2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
