Dorothy M. Whittaker, 84, of Eldred, NY, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. The daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Savery) Bernardo, she was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 12, 1940.
Dorothy was a Machine Technician for Kolmar Laboratories in Port Jervis, NY for over 30 years and retired in 2005. She was part of the parish at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Yulan, NY and a member of the Highland Senior Citizens.
A family statement reads, “Dorothy was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the most important thing to her. She cherished her memories with her late husband Jack and son Anthony. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bringing her granddaughters to County Fairs, seeing their school events and cheering them on in sports. Dorothy enjoyed listening to Elvis, watching old movies, going to the Horse Races and gambling at the Casinos. Most of all she enjoyed playing Bingo. She was one of a kind. She will truly be missed, will always be loved and remembered.”
Her family is devastated to see her move on and will love and cherish all the good memories that she has left them. They will find comfort in knowing that there are many other family members and friends, who passed before her, that were waiting in heaven with open arms to embrace her.
She is survived by her two daughters: Laurie Santulli, Theresa Ruscillo and her husband Vittorio Jr., three granddaughters: Nicole Ruscillo, Julia Ruscillo, Sophia Ruscillo, her former husband Vincent Santulli and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy is predeceased by her son: Anthony M. Santulli, her husband of 28 years Jack Whittaker, who passed away in 2015, her two sisters: Annamay Pecora and Margaret Suppa.
